About tldraw flash

tldraw flash is a web app for making short animations on a tldraw canvas. You draw as you would on any tldraw board, press record, and move things around. Flash captures the recording and puts it on a timeline as a clip. Clips can be trimmed, split, slowed down or sped up, and layered, voiced over with your microphone, and exported as an MP4 or published as a link anyone can watch.

Flash runs in the browser at flash.tldraw.com and is built with the tldraw SDK.

Every flash project is connected to a single account. Other people see your work through a published link, not through your project. See Publish and share.

Get started

To start animating with tldraw flash:

  1. Open flash.tldraw.com and sign in.
  2. Select New project on the Home page. An empty project opens with a camera frame in the middle of the canvas. Or start from a pre-built template
  3. Draw something inside the camera frame. A circle from the shape tool will do.
  4. Select it and press REC, the red button at the left end of the toolbar, or press Shift+R.
  5. Drag the shape around. When you are done, press REC again. The performance appears on the timeline as a clip.
  6. Press PLAY, in the bottom-left corner to watch it back.
  7. Choose Share in the top right to publish a link, or the Export button beside it to download as a MP4.

Only what is inside the frame ends up in the video, and only what you do while REC is on is recorded. Any other changes you make on the canvas just update the starting state of the recording. The animation ends where your last recording stops: there is no length you need to set.
